MooringSense developed an efficient risk-based integrity management strategy for mooring systems, based on an affordable and reliable on-line monitoring technology, with the purpose to reduce operational costs and increase efficiency of offshore WT. SINTEF has participated in MooringSense and will use their gained expertise to further develop it in WILLOW.

The primary objective of the synergies between WILLOW and AIRE is to promote project awareness and broaden their audience. This collaborative effort can be achieved through several strategic approaches:
Website Linking: Cross-linking their official websites is essential. WILLOW should prominently feature information about AIRE, and vice versa. By doing so, visitors to one project’s website can discover the other project’s activities, enhancing mutual visibility.
Newsletter Collaboration: Both projects can actively contribute to each other’s newsletters. By sharing updates, achievements, and collaborative efforts, they can engage stakeholders effectively. Regular newsletters serve as a valuable channel for disseminating project-related content.
Social Media Support: Using social media platforms (such as Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) is crucial. WILLOW and AIRE can promote each other’s content, research findings, and success stories. Connecting with followers and encouraging discussions will enhance visibility and community engagement.
Regarding the technical synergies, AIRE and WILLOW projects share the aim of developing tools that will contribute to increase wind farm reliability and O&M costs reduction. In addition, AIRE´s open access knowledge hub will be available for tools and models validation.
In summary, by working together, WILLOW and AIRE can create a stronger and more interconnected European research landscape, advancing wind energy and benefiting citizens across the continent.
ICONIC consortium aims to develop innovative digital and physical tools to achieve fundamental breakthroughs for the integrated control of wind farms, considering the whole physical system at farm, turbine, and component levels, in particular the complex aerodynamic interactions among turbines. The proposed integrated control solutions will be demonstrated by an extensive validation study via high-fidelity simulation models, experiments at a national-level wind tunnel, historical operational data, and real-world wind farm field tests.
TWAIN is a 48-month Horizon Europe project led by 12 partners, dedicated to ensuring the reliable and cost-effective design and operation of wind power plants, with a specific emphasis on system stability, security, and environmental considerations. The project aligns with the European Union’s decarbonization goals, acknowledging the transformative influence of AI and digitalization as drivers of the energy transition and enabling the integration of wind farm control technology processes into the operation and design of future energy systems.
SUDOCO is a pioneering project funded by the EU and dedicated to revolutionizing the wind energy industry through the development of an open-source, data-driven «Control Room of the Future.» This innovative platform aims to achieve the optimal equilibrium between maximizing energy output and mitigating structural stress in wind farms, while enhancing overall wind farm performance, measured through a time-varying value function. By leveraging physics-based machine learning techniques, continuously refined with extensive experimental data and deep insights into underlying physics, SUDOCO ensures robust and cyber-secure solutions.
