The WILLOW Project was presented during the Industry Leading Events for Business Leaders, held in Amsterdam in a hybrid format from 12 to 13 March 2025.
Christof Devriendt, representing 24SEA, delivered a technical presentation titled «The Use of Physics and Data-Driven Digital Twins Combined with Farmwide Deployed IoT Acceleration Sensors.» The presentation focused on a case study within the WILLOW Project, highlighting the integration of advanced monitoring technologies and digital twin models for enhanced wind farm management.
The approach discussed combines farmwide-deployed IoT accelerometers with both physics-based and data-driven modeling techniques. This combination supports a range of applications relevant to wind farm operation and maintenance, including:
- Health-aware wind farm operation and maintenance strategies
- Farmwide load monitoring through machine learning algorithms
- Novelty detection using spectrum-based auto-encoders
- Data-driven lifetime assessment and scenario prognosis, including the evaluation of curtailment impacts and major component replacements
