On 23 June, International Women in Engineering Day highlighted the important contribution of women to engineering, research and technological innovation under the 2026 theme, «Engineering Intelligence».

Their expertise is helping advance fields ranging from digital technologies and artificial intelligence to renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.
As engineering continues to evolve through digitalisation and data-driven innovation, diversity remains an important factor in fostering creativity, broadening perspectives and strengthening decision-making processes. Ensuring a wide range of viewpoints in the development of future technologies can help deliver solutions that are more effective, inclusive and responsive to real-world needs.
Within the WILLOW project, women researchers, engineers and innovation professionals contribute across multiple disciplines, supporting the development of advanced solutions for offshore wind monitoring, predictive maintenance and asset lifetime management.
