On September 10, 2024, WILLOW had the distinct pleasure of co-hosting a significant webinar in collaboration with three other European projects, centred around the theme of The Next Generation Wind Farm Control. The event attracted over 80 participants eager to learn about Europe’s advancements in wind farm control technologies.
The session commenced with a comprehensive introduction to the Horizon Europe Call HORIZON-CL5-2022-D3-03-04 «Integrated Wind Farm Control,» delivered by Baris Adiloglu from the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).
Following this, we proceeded with presentations from the four projects associated with the call:
- IconicWind Project: Xiaowei Zhao from the University of Warwick presented on «Smart, aware, integrated wind farm control interacting with digital twins.»
- SUDOCO Project: Jan-Willem Van Wingerden from Delft University of Technology provided insights into «Sustainable resilient data-enabled offshore wind farm and control co-design.»
- TWAIN Project: Tuhfe Göçmen from DTU Wind and Energy Systems introduced «Integrated, value-based, and multi-objective wind farm control powered by Artificial Intelligence.»
- WILLOW Project: Ainhoa Cortes from Ceit Centro Tecnológico concluded the presentations with a focus on «Wholistic and integrated digital tools for extended lifetime and profitability of offshore wind farms.»
Throughout the session, Q&A segments were interspersed between presentations to ensure that all participants had the opportunity to address their questions and receive clarity on the discussed topics.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all attendees for their participation and valuable contributions. Please stay tuned for further updates on this exciting area of technological advancement.
