WILLOW Project Participates in WindEurope Madrid 2026

The WILLOW Project took part in WindEurope Madrid 2026, an event that gathered more than 15,000 visitors from across the wind energy sector. The project presented its ongoing research activities focused on improving the monitoring and durability of offshore wind structures.

Scientific Contribution

Marina Perez Diego, predoctoral researcher at CEIT, presented a poster titled “Pulse-echo ultrasound monitoring of pitting corrosion in low-carbon steel for offshore wind turbines” (PO200). The work introduced advances in ultrasound‑based techniques for detecting early‑stage corrosion in offshore wind components, a key challenge for long‑term structural integrity.

Project Visibility

The WILLOW project was also featured at the BASQUENERGY Cluster stand. The project poster was displayed on the stand wall, accompanied by the second video of the project. Printed brochures were distributed to visitors, providing additional information on WILLOW’s objectives and research progress.

Significance

Participation in WindEurope Madrid 2026 offered an opportunity to present WILLOW’s current developments to industry stakeholders, researchers, and technology providers. The event strengthened the project’s visibility and supported knowledge exchange on monitoring solutions for offshore wind infrastructure.
