From 3 to 5 June, WILLOW partners showcased their latest research developments at TORQUE 2026 in Bruges, Belgium, highlighting innovative approaches to improve the monitoring, reliability and long-term performance of offshore wind assets.
Among the project contributions, Flanders Make presented the poster “Leveraging SCADA Data for Cost-effective Corrosion Monitoring and Prognosis in Offshore Wind Farms”, developed in collaboration with Sirris and C-Cube International.
The research addresses a key challenge in offshore wind asset health management: enabling large-scale corrosion monitoring across wind farms without the need for extensive instrumentation. To tackle this issue, the team developed a probabilistic multi-fidelity framework that combines sparse corrosion sensor measurements with SCADA data obtained from cathodic protection systems. This approach enables farm-wide corrosion prognosis while also providing uncertainty quantification to support more informed decision-making.
The methodology was validated using four years of operational data from the Norther Offshore Wind Farm, demonstrating how existing operational datasets can be leveraged to gain deeper insights into asset integrity and long-term structural performance.
This work reflects WILLOW’s commitment to developing cost-effective, data-driven solutions that support predictive maintenance and improve the reliability and sustainability of offshore wind operations.
