On 3 June 2026, Jerika Lamas from Sirris presented WILLOW research at the Symposium: Opportunities and Innovations for Coatings in a Circular Economy, held at Sirris Heverlee, Belgium. The event brought together stakeholders from across the coatings value chain to discuss innovative solutions and more circular approaches for the industry.
As part of the symposium, Jerika shared insights from the WILLOW Project on coating degradation and the development of pitting corrosion in demanding operating environments. The presentation highlighted ongoing research aimed at improving the understanding of degradation mechanisms and supporting the development of more durable and reliable coating systems.
The work presented contributes to WILLOW’s broader objective of enhancing the monitoring and long-term performance of offshore wind assets. By advancing knowledge on corrosion processes and coating behaviour, the project is helping to identify more effective strategies for asset health management and maintenance planning.
During the accompanying Sirris laboratory tour, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the research activities being carried out within both the WILLOW and PIT projects, fostering discussions on how applied research can contribute to greater sustainability and circularity in industrial applications.
The event provided a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge, strengthening collaboration across different sectors, and exploring how combining expertise can accelerate innovation in coating technologies and corrosion monitoring.
